KARACHI - The Sindh police’s latest command and control system is nearing completion.
A spokesman said here on Wednesday that under this some 970 CCTV cameras would be installed at 164 points in the metropolis for curbing the crimes.
He said that a report submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, it was informed that the system would start functioning in the current financial year.
Deployment of the trained police personnel would be ensured, it was further pointed out.
The report said that for combating the challenge of terrorism, a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy has been devised. In this regard, the anti-extremism cell under the CID, is also being reorganised.
Various specialised units of the special policing plan are being strengthened further.
The IGP stressed that maintenance of law and order and protection of the lives and property of the people is the prime responsibility of the police.
On the occasion, he also called for indiscriminate action against the criminals.
Shahi Syed condemns attack on ANP leader’s residence: Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President Senator Shahi Syed has condemned the attack and rampage at the house of party leader on late Tuesday night and demanded the government to bring the culprits to book. Talking to mediamen here on Wednesday, Shahi Syed, who is also the president of Pakhtoon Action Committee (Loya Jirga), said that attack on the house of Haroon Khattak was an act of state violence. He demanded the Sindh home minister and DG rangers to conduct probe into the incident and take strict action against the accused.
He claimed that attackers have been identified and a case would be lodged against them.
Shahi Syed said that it was the responsibility of district and provincial governments to give protection to lives and properties of ANP leaders and activists.
He also urged the ANP activists to remain peaceful and avoid taking the law in hand.
