Indus in peak flood at Guddu and Sukkur

Indus passing through Guddu and Sukkur in peak flood in southern Sindh province in Pakistan as the worst monsoon rains in decades left an ever lengthier trail of death and destruction in the nation. The water flow in Indus at Guddu has crossed over 9,00,000 cusecs and 6,00,000 cusecs at Sukkur Barrage in Sindh affecting upward of four million people. Much of the destruction has come from the mighty Indus River, which in better times irrigates vast swaths of farmland. The floods have hit hard to the Katcha area of Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Sukkur and Larkana areas. River embankments were being strengthened and people from the areas under threat being evacuated to safer places.
