Police to get 65 more mobile vans



KARACHI  - For monitoring law and order situation in the metropolis, the Karachi Police would get 65 more mobile vans.This was informed in a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) regarding police resource here on Wednesday. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, presided over the meeting.It was informed that these vehicles would be fitted with the modern surveillance equipment and would be linked with the Command and Control Centre set up at the CPO.Ten such vehicles have already been handed over to the police and have been deployed for monitoring the law and order situation in the metropolis.The IGP instructed that such vehicles be equipped with the surveillance cameras at the earliest so that these could be used for monitoring those areas in the city which are not covered by the Command and Control Centre.Meanwhile, police in their ongoing drive against the criminals, arrested 21 accused from various parts of the metropolis during the past 24 hours. A police statement on Wednesday said that 17 pistols, two rifles and five mobile phones were recovered from the accused. Cases have been registered against the accused and police have started investigations, the statement added.Moreover, as many as 50 model police stations would be established in the province. This was pointed out at a meeting presided over by the Additional IG Research and Inspection Sindh, Muhammad Rafiq.A police statement on Tuesday said that of these, 20 model police stations would be set up in Karachi.These police stations would be provided with necessary infrastructure, logistic support and transport facilities.The statement said that arrangements have been made for the provision of specialised training to the staff.Meanwhile, Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that in the next general elections the Pakistan People’s Party will emerge victorious in the Punjab as well.He was talking to various delegations in his camp office here, said a statement on Tuesday. They said that the coming general elections would be held on time and in a fair and transparent manner.Chawla said that the PPP would emerge victorious in the Punjab as well and that the people would be ‘freed from the bad governance of Shahbaz Sharif.He further stated that the province of Sindh is a stronghold of the PPP. The minister maintained that the PML-N was not sincere to Sindh.
