Govt opposes removing Mush's name from ECL

KARACHI - The federal government on Monday submitted its reply in the Sindh High Court and opposed removing former military ruler Pervez Musharraf's name from the exit control list (ECL).
According to the Federation's response, the SHC is not authorised to hear the case pertaining to removing Musharraf's name from the ECL as the orders to restrict Musharraf were issued by the Supreme Court. Also, the order can't be challenged in the High Court.
Furthermore, it was stated in the response that Musharraf had concealed the facts in his application and following the Article 199, no relief can be granted to him. He has been named in four high-profile cases and is currently on bail. He can't be allowed to leave the country as he is facing serious charges against him.
The response further stated that a case pertaining to initiate high treason case has also been registered against Musharraf that could result in death sentence, and it is likely that he wants to leave the country to escape the sentence. The special court has already indicted him in the case.
