KARACHI - LUX Style Awards announced a new group of scholarship winners for the calendar year 2009 here on Thursday.
Last year, the LUX Style Awards office had established the tradition of extending scholarships to deserving students in the disciplines of Film Editing, Music and Fashion Design.
A total of 9 deserving final year students have been chosen for the scholarships from prestigious institutions like National College of Arts (NCA), National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Pakistan Institute of Fashion & Design (PIFD) and Asian Institute of Fashion Design (AIFD) in Lahore and Karachi.
This years LUX Style Award Scholarship recipients are: Adeel Siddiqui, Khizar Idrees Baig and Saniya Sohail from NCA for Film & TV Editing.
Haris Ali Khan and Nadir Abbas from NAPA for Music.
Mannal Jayyad Dar and Sehrish Khizal from AIFD for Excellence in Fashion Design.
Murk Bhugio and Junaid Mubashir PIFD also for Excellence in Fashion Design.
These Scholarships are awarded to encourage new talent into the fields of Music, Fashion and Film and TV editing.
The 4 institutes, in consultation with their faculty, decide the names of the deserving students each year and enable them to complete their thesis year.
LUX believes in fostering new talent and in addition to giving out 24 awards each year we are delighted to be able to contribute to the performing arts and fashion student body, said Farheen Salman, Brands Director Skin at Unilever Pakistan.
