Inmate among 6 killed in Karachi

KARACHI - Six people including an inmate were killed here on Thursday.
Gunmen riding a motorbike shot dead a man who was sitting at a tea stall at New Sabzi Mandi.
Police said Nadir Ahmed Ali was pickup driver in the market. He was sitting at the tea stall with his brother when gunmen riding on a motorbike came and targeted him multiple times. Assailants managed to flee from the scene. The victim rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police suspected personal enmity the reason behind the killing. It handed the body over to the family after autopsy.
A man was shot dead in the jurisdictions of Pirabad police station. Police said gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullet on a motor mechanic shop at Frontier Colony and fled.  One Anwar Ali sustained injuries and died on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In Zaman Town Police precincts, police found a shot dead body. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy. Police said the victim was shot once in his head. 
A man who was injured on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries here on Thursday. Abdul Qadir was wounded by Malik and Riaz a day earlier over some personal dispute in Malir Cantt Police precincts.
Police said the victim was the resident of Syed Goth. He was wounded after a brawl over some petty issue with his relatives. He was rushed to the hospital where he died during treatment. The assailants are still at large. Police registered a case against the accused persons.
Jackson Police found a tortured body. Police reached the spot after being informed by the residents. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy at Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, an under trial prisoner, charged in Narcotics Act, was killed in mysterious circumstances at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Rahid, resident of North Nazimabad, was arrested by Civil Line Police on February 2. He reached District Jail, Malir after a day of his arrest. He was rushed to the JPMC on Wednesday in critical condition where he took his last breath.
Jail deputy superintendent Sukeel Shah when contacted said he was tortured by the police before he reached the jail. Since the day he entered the jail, he was admitted in the jail hospital where his condition got critical on Wednesday. The jail administration has shifted him to JPMC where he succumbed to injuries. On the other side, SHO Civil Line Waqar Tanoli said he was presented before the court ahead of his shifting to the jail. “The victim was tortured by the jail police and not the police.”
