3 more killed in Karachi

KARACHI  - Three people were killed in various violent incidents here on Monday.
A man was killed here in the jurisdictions of Iqbal Market police station. Police said gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullets on Imran Rasheed and fled. The victim was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
In another incident, bandits barged into a factory in Korangi Industrial Area and held the staffers hostage. When the workers offered resistance, the culprits opened fire and shot dead a man Hameed and escaped.
On the other side, Lyari gangsters threw a shot dead body at Bihar Colony, Lyari. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.
Meanwhile, police and Rangers claimed to have apprehended around 94 suspects during the ongoing targeted raids in various parts of the metropolis on Monday.
According to the spokesman of Karachi police, around 69 criminals were arrested during 73 raids and three encounters in different areas of the City.
Separately, Pakistan Rangers Sindh claimed to have captured 25 criminals during separate targeted raids in various areas, including Block-1, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Raghaib Garden, Korangi No.4, Dawood Chali, Landhi No 6, New Karachi Sector 6-Z, Ghariababad, Gadap, Gulshan-e-Maymar, North Nazimabad Block-H, Chanesar Goth, Rafa-e-Aam Society, Model Colony and Nursery. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, a high level security conference was held in connection with the upcoming Chup Tazia procession and 12th Rabiul Awwal at Pakistan Rangers Sindh headquarters on Monday. DG Rangers Major General Rizwan Akhtar presided over the conference.
Rangers have finalised the security plans and will ensure foolproof security. Temporary pickets will also be established. Snipers will be deployed on the rooftops on the procession routes and complete route will be sealed.
Sniffer dogs will be employed to clear the route. The routes will also be checked through aerial surveillance. Strict ban will be imposed on aerial firing and violators will be dealt severely. Ulema of all sects have urged to maintain peace and promote inter-sect harmony.
