Rally to mark National Voters’ Day

MIRPURKHAS - A rally was taken out here on Wednesday from the Post Office chowk to the press club in connection with National Voters’ Day.

Scores of people, including officials of different government departments, members of NGOs and people belonging to other walks of life took part in the rally.

Led by District Election Commissioner of Mirpurkhas Amir Ashfaq Qureshi, the participants marched through main roads and arrived at a local press club where speaking to the participators, District Election Commissioner Amir Ashfaq Qureshi said that each and every person over 18 years old should get himself or herself registered as a voter. “Use votes for changing future of the nation,” he said while addressing the participants.

He asked the people, who were not registered as voters, to come to his office along with national identity cards and get themselves registered  as voters.

He said 56 percent vote casting was recorded in the local government elections, while the target was to increase it to 80 percent till next general elections to be held in 2018.
