Dying woman appeals for her kids' welfare

KARACHI - Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Sharmila Farooqui was stunned when an innocent and poor woman Saima, 34, who is facing seriously burn injuries requested her to make a promise that after her (Saima) death, the govt and society would take care of her two teenage children, The Nation learnt on Friday. Saima, a 34 years old divorcee was seriously burnt two days back when her former husband Nadeem, who has recently freed from jail, came at her residence in New Karachi and compelled her to accompany him. On her resistance, Nadeem put kerosene oil on Saima and put her on fire. Resultantly, she received serious burn wounds. Saima was rushed to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital, where her condition was stated to be critical as 65pc of her body has almost dead because of burn wounds. When matter came to the knowledge of Adviser to Sindh CM Sharmila Farooqui, she visited Saima. On the occasion, Saima asked her to provide help to her children after her death. Sharmila Faooqui promised her and assured that govt will provide every possible help to her family and her children. Ms Farooqui told The Nation that she would write a communiqu_ to Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah with full recommendation that basic needs of life including residence, food and education be provided to the two children of Saima. She said that Saima has a 14-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, residing with their maternal grandmother in a rented house. Sharmila Farooqui also appealed to the citizens and philanthropists of the country to come forward on the voice of a dying woman, who do not want anything but protection and basic needs to her children. Sharmila further said that when she met with Saima, the latter repeatedly appealed her to take care the children. It may be noted that her former spouse Nadeem is still at large as police have failed to arrest him. Sharmila said that according to doctors it would be a miracle if she survived after 65pc burn injuries.
