KARACHI - Expressing concern over the continued arrest of party leaders and workers, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday has condemned the detention of the MQM senior leader Gulfaraz Khattak.
Addressing a press conference at party temporary head office in PIB Colony, He informed that Khattak is a member of the coordination committee and legal aid committee of the MQM-P. As Khattak is a lawyer by profession, he went to the court regarding the matter of his some client from where he was picked up by Rangers and police, added Sattar.
Khattak was one of the MQM leaders who rejected the 22 August anti-state slogans raised by MQM founder Altaf Hussain but it is unfortunate that he was arrested on supporting that stance. We condemn Khattak arrest and demand immediate release said Sattar adding that it would be not possible for the party to continue politics if this policy continued against MQM Pakistan. He said that on August 23, MQM Pakistan announced to disconnect with London and also condemned the anti-state slogans raised by MQM founder Altaf Hussain but instead of admiring our stance, we are forcefully being included in August 22 incident.
The people those were not wanted have swiftly become most wanted, said Sattar. We should cleared over it so that MQM-Pakistan should announce its further course of action as time to time pulling MQM-P in the August 22 incident would not be easy to continue.
He said federal interior minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan during the meeting in Islamabad admire MQM-P policy over rejecting and disconnecting with MQM London chapter but once again one of the MQM leader was arrest over allegation of supporting August 22 incident.
Sattar said that MQM leader Qamar Mansoor was not present at Karachi Press Club on August 22 but he was also detained in the same case. One by one arrest is inadequate said MQM-P leader adding that we all are ready to offer arrest.
He said that option of the resignation from the assemblies is still open for the party but we want to intact with our people. So the ruling government should take notice of these arrests and provide space to the MQM to continue its politics as it is the democratic right of any political force.
