KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and opposition parties announce to take out Awami March against the pre-poll rigging on Sunday (tomorrow).
JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti announced this in all parties’ press conference held at Karachi Press Club on Friday.
He said that JI and other opposition parties had decided to take out Awami March from Mazar-e-Quaid to Tibet Center on February 10, (Sunday) against the pre-poll rigging carried out in the voter’s verification process and violation of Supreme Court verdict.
The march would be carried out with the demands before the Election Commission of Pakistan and the government to rectify the electoral lists in the presence of Army personnel, elimination of target killing and the extortion from the metropolis, he added.
Mahenti regretted that the EC was not implementing the SC’s verdict and electoral rolls were still being prepared at unit and sector offices of the MQM.
He hoped that CEC Fakhruddin G Ibrahim will play his crucial role to hold transparent elections and appealed the Karachiites to participate in the Awami March to clean the terrorist from the city.
Leaders including ; JI Naib Ameer Barjees Ahmed, Raja Arif Sultan, Matloob Awan of Sunni Tehreek, Shah Muhammad Shah of SUP, Gulzar Soomro of STPP, Basharat Mirza of PDP, Mehfooz Yar Khan of AML, Zia Abbas of NPP, Dr Saleh Zahoor, Maulana Ghulam Mustafa of JUI-S, Muhammad Ghayyas of JUI-F and others were also present on the occasion.
