Low gas pressure irks people in Sindh

KARACHI - People across Sindh province have to suffer due to closure of CNG stations and low pressure of gas for domestic consumers on Tuesday.According to details, the commuters and motorists had to face difficulties as CNG stations in Sindh including Karachi were closed from 8:00am on Tuesday to 8:00am on Thursday for 48 hours. The spokesman of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said that the decision has been taken due to shortage of supply of gas from different gas fields and low gas pressure.Special vigilance teams will monitor the situation to ensure implementation of the decision and any gas filling station which violated the schedule would be closed for further 24 hours, he warned.Large number of people including public servants, employees of private offices, students and labourers were seen on bus stops in various cities waiting for transport of concerned routes as the public transport remained very thin. However, despite suspension of gas supply to CNG the citizens in various districts of Sindh continued to suffer due to low pressure of gas besides unscheduled and prolonged loadshedding of electricity in intense cold weather. They urged the provincial government to at least ensure smooth gas supply during CNG closure days and to mend the power supply situation.
