KARACHI - A balloon seller and six children were wounded in a gas cylinder explosion in Macchar Colony area of Karachi on Tuesday. The loud explosion was heard in the surrounding areas also. Following the explosion, extra contingent of law enforcers including the police and rangers rushed to the spot.Bomb disposal squad also reached the site and collected the evidence. The BDS experts ruled out the possibility of terrorism after thorough inspection of the blast site. They said the blast was occurred due to a gas cylinder used to inflate the balloons. The injured balloon seller was identified as Muhammad Yousuf, 62, and six children as Samair, 6, Hameeda Buksh, 7, Bilal, 8, Eesha, 7 and Yasin, 8. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Doctors said three children were also admitted at the Burns Ward of the hospital. Police officials said no case had been registered yet as the incident occurred accidently.ENMITY TAKES LIVES OF MAN, SON IN KARACHIA man and his son were shot dead near Mewashah graveyard, Karachi on Tuesday.The victims were identified as Akbar Ali, 45, and his son as Taj Muhammad, 12. SHO Munir Chandio said the victims belonged to the Magsi tribe and had enmity with the Lashari tribe. He said the victims were going home when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot them dead apparently over personal enmity. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital for autopsies and later handed over to their heirs.Similarly, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Ali was shot dead at National Highway in Quaidabad area. SHO Naeem Khan said the victim was posted to the Khuldabad police post. He was going to buy Iftari when armed motorcyclists shot him dead. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to injuries.Separately, one Tahir Baloch, 28, was shot dead in Malir locality. Police said the victim was going home on his pickup when unidentified riders shot him dead and escaped. However, police have yet to be ascertained the motive behind the murder. TWO ABDUCTEES RECOVEREDCitizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) claimed to have recovered two abductees from the captivity of the kidnappers. The CPLC also arrested two suspects over their alleged involvement in kidnapping on Tuesday. The recovered abductees were identified as Safdar Ali Shah and Azhar Shaikh. The CPLC officials said the abductees came to Karachi from Jamshoro. They were kidnapped when both were returning to Jamshoro. Later, the abductors phoned their families and demanded ransom of Rs6 million and 80 ounces gold individually from both the families. CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy said both the families approached the CPLC and Anti Violent Crime Cell for further assistance. Both the agencies conducted a joint raid at their hideout in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and recovered both the victims safely. They arrested two kidnappers.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
