KARACHI - The funeral of martyred personnel of security forces was offered here on Monday.
The funeral of 11 martyred Airport Security Force (ASF) officials including Sub Inspector (SI) Tariq Mehmood, SI Muhammad Sarwar, SI Muhammad Hafeezur Rehman, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Islamuddin, ASI Muhammad Iqbal, Hawaldar Muhammad Hayat, Hawaldar Muhammad Azam Khan, Hawaldar Ghulam Murtaza, sepoy Muntazir Shah, sepoy Abdul Malik and sepoy Muhammad Irfan was offered at ASF Headquarters, Karachi.
ASF Director General Azam Tiwana and a large number of ASF officials attended the funeral of the martyred. Later, the bodies of martyred ASF personnel were moved to their native towns.
The coffins were wrapped in the national flag and were transported from the ASF camp, situated at the backside of Karachi airport. The authorities paid glowing tributes to the officials who laid down their lives in order to foil nefarious designs of the terrorists.
Tiwana said the terrorists were foreign nationals and had come fully prepared but the ASF officials showed great bravery and foiled the attack.
Earlier, the funeral of Rangers man, who was identified as Dil Murad, was held at the Rangers Headquarters Bhittaiabad and the body was sent to his hometown in Khairpur. Rangers Director General Major General Rizwan Akhtar and a large number of Rangers officials were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, five PIA officials including Fakhrul Hassan, Muzaffarul Hassan, Tanveer Anwar Khan, Fazal Muhammad Zubairi, Syed Muhammad Ilyas – and an official of the Shaheen Airline namely Abdul Khaliq were among the other victims.
The identity of one person could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. The legal heirs received the bodies from Jinnah hospital whereas the unidentified body was moved to morgue for identification.
