Two doctors among six shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI - Two doctors, a local leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) and a trader were shot dead while three torture-marked bodies were found in separate incidents here on Saturday.
According to details a doctor was targeted at Paposh Nagar, Nazimabad area within the limits of Paposh police post. At least two armed men entered in a private clinic and manage escaped after shooting to a doctor. Police said that the deceased doctor identified as Akbar Ali, use to run a clinic since long in the locality. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy.
Similarly, a Homeopathic doctor was shot dead after few minutes when unidentified armed men targeted him at outside his clinic located at Anarkali Bazaar, Nazimabad area. Police said that the deceased identified as Doctor Yawar Hussain, used to run a Homeopathic clinic in the locality.
The deceased was closing his clinic when unidentified armed riders manage to escape after shooting to him multiple outside his clinic. Police said that the deceased died on the spot. Police handed over his body family after completing medico-legal formalities at ASH.
Initially, police suspected the same culprits were behind both incidents of doctors killing, adding that the armed men first killed to Dr Akbar and after 8 to 10 minute targeted to Dr Yawar. Further investigations were underway.
Following the killing, tension prevailed in Nazimabad locality and it’s surrounding, while heavy contingent of police and rangers were deputed in the locality.   
A local leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat of Baldia Town identified as Hakeem Muhammad, 28, son of Muhammad Siddiq was shot dead by at least two armed riding a motorcycle. Police said that the deceased was a herbal medicine practitioner and was killed in an attack at a medicine store located near to his residence in Sector 5-J in Baldia Town within the premises of Madina Colony police station.
Police said that one of the two armed men entered inside the victims shop and escaped after killed him. The killing triggered violence in parts of Baldia town where routine and commercial activities were suspended. ASWJ spokesperson strongly condemned the incident and demanded the government and law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits.
Separately, three dead bodies of men were found from Jumma Goth, Mauripur Road within the jurisdiction of Mochko police station. Police said that the bodies were shifted to morgue for identification purpose after completing medico-legal formalities at Civil Hospital, Karachi.
SHO Chaudhry Saleem said that the victims were killed after abduction, adding that several marks of torture were also found on their bodies. The officer said that after torturing they were shot once in their heads before dumping their bodies while a case has been registered and further investigations were underway.
In another case a trader namely Abdul Rauf was shot dead in an armed attack at shop located in Block-11, Federal B area within the remits of Gulbar police station. Police shifted his body to ASH later handed over his family.  
Meanwhile, police officials investigating the murder case of a Sindh High Court’s lawyer, advocate Tanvir Nazeer who was killed late on Friday night. Investigators have ruled out the possibility of the targeted killing and said that the lawyer was killed while resisting robbery as the police have obtained CCTV footage.
 No case has been registered as the police was waiting for complainants.
