SHC disposes of Qaim's petition

KARACHI - The division bench of Sindh High Court on Wednesday disposed of the petition filed by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah against the inquiry tribunal formed to probe the Karasaz tragedy, occurred 18th October 2007, by the previous government. The bench was comprised on Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Salman Ansari. The petitioner showed his concerns over the investigation process conducted by the previous Sindh government while he also expressed his dissatisfaction over the investigation officials of the tribunal appointed by the previous government. It's worthy of mention here that more than one hundred PPP workers were killed in the Karsaz bomb blasts during the rally former PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto. Meanwhile, the tribunal of Sindh High Court conducted the hearing on the petition filed by a PPP candidate against former Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim. The tribunal comprised on Justice Syed Pir Ali Shah held the hearing of the petition filed by PPP candidate Engineer Wali Ramo. Despite issuance of several notices to appear before the tribunal, Dr Arbab never appeared in any hearing. The same tribunal adjourned hearing of a petition filed by PPP leader Mirza Ikhtiar Baig against the election victory of MQM candidate Khush Bakht Shujahat till 16th September. The petitioner submitted that his rival had allegedly rigged the election and demanded to hold fresh polls for NA-250.
