Goods still selling costlier, despite petro-products getting cheaper

Despite significant fall in prices of the petroleum products all across the country as substantial as 33 percent, the prices of the consumer products have not been lowered instead the meat price continued pegged at its highest level. On March 30, 2008, when the petrol price was Rs53.70 per litre, mutton was selling in the country at Rs230 per kilo and beef at Rs140 per kilo. Later, the petrol price had hiked to Rs87 per litre due to international crude shooting prices and the meat sellers on this pretext had increased their prices also, but now with the fall of petroleum products' prices the profiteers refusing to relatively scale down the prices continue fleecing the consumers.
