KARACHI - MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people living on both the sides of the borders, if the United Nations wanted durable peace in the region.
He said that the rights of the oppressed Kashmiri people would have to be given. He was talking to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on telephone during his visit to the MQM head office at Nine Zero on Sunday.
He thanked Prime Minister Majeed on his arrival and said that the MQM condemned the injustices and oppression against the Kashmiri people in the held Kashmir in the strongest words. He said that the Kashmiri people must not consider themselves alone as the MQM was firmly standing behind each Kashmiri, and its unconditional services were available for their right to self-determination and freedom.
Altaf appealed to the international community, and the United Nations to play their role for ending the barbarism being committed against the Kashmiri people and resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said that the UN had recognized the rights of Kashmiri people in its resolutions, and it was time those resolutions were implemented. The MQM chief said that the people affected by the catastrophic earthquake were still facing hardships and stressed upon the government to speed up the rehabilitation of the affected people. Prime Minister Majeed hailed the views of MQM Chief Hussain for the rights of the Kashmiri people.
