KARACHI - Sindh Professors` Lecturers` Association (SPLA) Karachi region has announced to stage a protest rally outside the Karachi Sindh Assembly Building on February 26 for their demands.This announcement was made in SPLA executive council meeting held on Wednesday. The rally will be taken out from DJ Science College on February 26 that will reach the Sindh Assembly. SPLA Karachi region president Professor Feroz Siddiqui during the meeting said that teachers of government colleges in Sindh have been facing many problems including implementation of time-scale formula, shortage of faculty, lack of insurance and housing facilities and delay in promotions and upgrading while Provisional education department was paying no heed. He further added that the education department has broken all the previous records of corruption. Reiterating all issues he demanded Patron-in Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Sectary Sindh to take notice in resolving these sensitive issues. The vows include upgrading posts in Budget book, to announce the DPC date for the promotions of various posts and immediate release of the M.Phil and PHD allowances. During the meeting SPLA decided to ensure participating of teachers from across Sindh adding that it would be peaceful and that the educational process in colleges would not be affected. SPLA General Sectary Karachi region Professor Amirul Haq, Professor Azizullah Memon, Professor Nadeem Ahmed, Professor Hassan Baloch, Professor Akmal Baloch, Professor Yawar Raza, Professor Khalil Baloch, Professor Nazia Solangi, Professor Asma and others also spoke on the occasion.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
