KARACHI - Awami Jamhoori Party, a nationalist group on Saturday observed black day and held protest demonstration against lawlessness and targeted killings in the country especially Karachi. Like other district headquarters, the AJP workers staged protest demonstrations outside the Karachi Press Club. Wearing black bands on arms, the women and men workers, in large numbers, continued chanting slogans against the targeted killings in Karachi, killing of Jamal Zafar Qadri, son of AJP leader Zafar Qadri, who was killed in Lyari on January 3. AJP vice president Hareed Chandio, Rasheed Sadhayo and others leaders while addressing the demo condemned the killing of Jamal Qadri in Lyari. They requested the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take sue moto against the killings of Hazara community people in Balochistan and Jamal Latif Qadri.Meanwhile, according to the AJP statement, workers of the party held protest demonstrations and token hunger strikes across Sindh, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shahdadpur, Dadu, Mehar, Warah, Qambar, Larkana and Khairpur against the continued carnage in Karachi which has taken 2,300 lives in the city last year and against the wave of ongoing terrorism. It also urged the SC to take notice against killing of defenseless Hazara community in Balochistan and the targeted killing of Jamal Qadri in Karachi. Led by Senior Vice President Wishno Mal, Abrar Kazi, Nazeer Qureshi, Mukhtiar Abbasi and Kaleem Malik and AJP activists took part in the protest march Sindh University Old campus to Hyderabad Press Club and later joined the token hunger strike. They condemned the endless killings in Karachi and said that these murders were politically motivated with the sole agenda of creating so-much anarchy was to justify army intervention and postponement of forthcoming general elections, much as the demand of Tahirul Qadri. They castigated the misrule of the PPP government especially in Sindh. They also protested against the PPP’s coalition party MQM in Sindh which is totally responsible in all the killings in Karachi. Meanwhile, the Sindh Civil Society Forum and other organisations also held protest demonstrations at Karachi Press Club and held candle light to remember the victims killed in several bomb blasts two days ago in Quetta.PROTECTION TO HAZARA COMMUNITY DEMANDED: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded protection for Hazara community in Balochistan.The MQM Coordination Committee in a statement said on Saturday that the Hazaras are being targeted in Balochistan and the community is feeling insecure due to violence in the province.The party’s Coordination Committee demanded the government to cease the spell of sect-based bloodshed of Hazara community across the province and the community should be provided security.The Coordination Committee has strongly condemned violence and killing of innocent people in Quetta and demanded of the government to provide protection to Hazara community.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
