KARACHI - At least five people were killed in various violence-related incidents here on Sunday.
Unidentified gunmen resorted fire at a shop, leaving two people dead at MPR Colony within the remits of Orangi Town Police Station. Police said that 28-year-old Rasheed Amanullah was standing at the shop where the gunmen ridding on a motorbike reached and sprayed indiscriminate bullets. The gunmen managed to flee while Rasheed and another passerby Rehmat died on the spot. Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors said that Rasheed succumbed to bullet wounds while Rehmat standing close to his died of heart attack.
Police handed over the bodies to the families after autopsy, said the motive behind the incident was personal enmity.
In another incident, an elderly man was killed and his driver wounded in act of target killing in Landhi locality. Police said that the deceased, identified as 60-year-old Iqbal, was on the way in his car when some armed motorcyclists targeted and killed him apparently over refusal to pay extortion money, adding that his driver, Jahangir, 40, was also wounded in the attack. The body and the injured were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a worker of the MQM– Shaukat, 35, succumbed to injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police officials said the deceased was injured in Madina Colony area of Baldia Town a couple of days back, adding that he was under treatment at hospital where he died on Sunday.
In Nazimabad, Waleed, 27, was killed by armed motorcyclists outside his residence located at Khamosh Colony within the limits of Gulbahar Police Station. The police officials said the deceased was busy washing his motorcycle outside his residence when armed motorcyclists targeted and killed him over unexplained reasons while further investigation was underway.
