Violence claims six more lives

KARACHI – Violence continued to take innocent lives in the financial hub of the country as six more shot dead overnight, officials said on Sunday.
According to local police, man namely Fahim was shot dead in Gulistan-e-Johar and another man was killed in firing at a shop. A dead body was found from Ranchore Line area while a man was shot dead in Kharadar area who could not be identified. On the other hand, an accused was arrested while seven others managed to flee from the scene after a police encounter.
According to police, the accused were allegedly involved in illegal supply of weapons in the city.
Police recovered 3 Kalashnikovs, 2 riffles, 1 repeater, two hand grenades including snatched car and a motorcycle from the accused. The accused was involved in illegal arms supply since 2009, police source added.
Meanwhile, as many as three vehicles were torched in an hour’s time while a man was shot dead in the city. As per details, a dumper was torched near Nasirabad, Water Pump while two vehicles were set afire near Yousuf Plaza and People’s Chowrangi, Federal B Area. A man was shot dead in a firing incident in Pak Colony. Police started investigations into the incidents.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have killed an alleged bandit in an encounter at Janjal Goth situated at super high way within the precincts of Sohrab Goth police station. A police official said that at least half dozen bandits were busy looting valuable stuffs from the passing vehicles in the area. As the police party on patrolling reached on the spot, the bandits opened fire. In an exchange of fire, a bandit received bullet injuries and died on the spot while his other accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The identification of the deceased has yet to be ascertained and the body has been moved to morgue after completing medico legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
