KARACHI - Tension prevailed in various parts of Lyari as two suspected gangsters and a woman were shot dead. Four people were injured in an exchange of rocket fire between the two rival gangster groups of Lyari on Monday.Two suspected gangsters were gunned down near Zonal Office, Lyari. SP Shahnawaz Khan said four armed men riding two motorbikes intercepted the motorbike and opened indiscriminate fire. Two persons died on the spot. The officer said the victim had yet to be identified. Both of them belonged to the group of gangsters.Also in Lyari, a woman was shot dead in Shah Baig Lane in Baghdadi Police precincts. Police said the victim was identified as Gulshan Bibi. Police said few days ago, a gangster Wehshi was killed in Lyari and it is suspected that Gulshan Bibi was killed for being a spy. Police further said the victim belonged to Baba Ladla’s group.In another incident in Lyari, four people were injured at Jumma Shah Plot when gangsters fired Awan. All the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital.Routine and commercial activities were suspended in Lyari following the cross-firing between the two rival groups. Extra contingent of law enforcers including the rangers and the police were present in Lyari, however, the cross firing between two groups were continued.Meanwhile, a man was shot dead by his wife over some family dispute in Afghan Camp. Police said the victim was identified as Abdul Malik, 35. Police said the victim’s wife escaped from the scene. The body was taken to hospital for autopsy. Police were trying to catch her.A police inspector was shot dead in MPR Colony, Orangi Town. Police said the victim was identified as Inspector Muhammad Iqbal alias Bijju. He was sitting at a hardware shop where at least two armed riders opened fire on him. Police shifted him to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced his death. The victim was deputed at Orangi police station as an Investigation In-charge for the last couple of years.
