KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has warned the party legislators to rectify errors or else tender their resignations.
“Land grabbing, nepotism will be dealt with strongly and there is no place for such elements in the MQM, those who are using the MQM's name for private gains must correct themselves or else all the MQM parliamentarians have to tender their resignations,” said Altaf.
The MQM chief stated this while talking to sectors, units in-charges at Khursheed Begum Secretariat Azizabaad on Sunday. Members of MQM Coordination Committee were also present of the occasion.
Altaf said that a few senior MQM members in cohesion with old sector’s and unit’s committee members directly and indirectly are involved in land grabbing; these groups also have the patronage of police and powerful intelligence agencies. He urged the Sindh governor to treat party’s senior members, workers and even their family members as per the law if they are involved in land grabbing.
Meanwhile in a statement, MQM chief Altaf Hussain demanded K-Electric to stop discriminating the people of Karachi and should apply decrease in power tariff announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that the K-Electric should stop the means of earning by dirty tactics. He said that the prime minister announced a substantial decrease in the power tariff to give relief to the people but K-Electric denied reducing power tariff and refusing to transform it to the masses.
Altaf demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Asif to take action against K-Electric and ensure relief for the people of Karachi as well.
NNI adds: Altaf Hussain paid tribute to the martyrs of Qasba Aligarh Massacre on its 28th anniversary.
Altaf Hussain said that the tragic incident of Qasba Aligrah which took place on 14 December 1986 is a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan. He demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to arrest those involved in the massacre, bringing innocent people to justice.
Talking about martyrs, he said that it is because of their sacrifices that the MQM's ideology is spreading rapidly across the country. He also said that the history would never be able to overlook the atrocities of the terrorists on December 14, 1986 in Qasba Aligarh. He remembered that the terrorists opened fire on innocent people including children, women and the elderly for six consecutive hours. Besides, Altaf condemned the relentless violence including rape and sexual assault against several women and young girls in Qasba Aligarh. He argued that the government hasn't taken any action against the tragic incident till date.
The Qasba-Aligarh massacre was an ethnic clash between armed Pashtuns and Muhajir settlements in Qasba Colony of Orangi Town in Karachi.
According to reports, hundreds of innocent people were killed and several hundred injured. The attack by armed Pashtuns is perceived as a revenge killing as a result of an unsuccessful raid on an Afghan heroine processing and distribution centre in Sohrab Goth by the security forces.
Online adds: Over 150 schemes costing over Rs37 billion are being carried out in education sector to enhance girls enrolment, reopen closes schools, improving standard of the education and ensuring basic amenities at the educational institutes in Sindh.
Reports said that over 900 schools are being upgraded from primary to the middle schools. Girl enrolment is being enhanced by reopening 400 closed schools through rural support programme.
Education department officials informed Radio Pakistan that besides ensuring the provision of basic facilities from primary to higher level educational institutions in Sindh, the computer education has also begun at middle school level in the province.
