JST calls for observing black day against LG law

KARACHI - The Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST), a nationalist party of the province, on Sunday took out a rally against the recently passed Sindh People’s Local Government Law in the City, terming the dual-administrative system a conspiracy of ruling parties PPP and MQM to divide the people of Sindh. Led by its chairman Dr Safdar Sarki, the caravan of Jeay Sindh Tehreek workers started from Gulshan-e-Hadeed on vehicles and reached Nursery stop on Shahrah-e-Faisal, where they assembled. The workers took out a huge rally and walked towards Karachi Press Club.Carrying red flags of party and banners and placards, the workers chanted slogans against the PPP government’s controversial step of passing local government law. Dr Safdr Sarki, chief of Jeay Sindh Tehreek while addressing the rally at Karachi Press Club termed the new law of local government a conspiracy to create hatred and rifts among the Urdu and Sindhi speaking people. He, however, announced that the struggle against the new law would be continued till the withdrawal of the controversial law. Nationalist leader came down hard against the ruling PPP and its ally MQM over their step of passing new law abruptly without discussion it in the Sindh Assembly. Through passing controversial law, the PPP government had created province within a province with unequal distribution of powers between mayors of all five metropolitans, he opined, adding that the status of the provincial government would be remained as spectator with no powers.Dr Sarki said that the Urdu speaking people are also Sindhis like the others and they are enjoying all rights, so they should raise their voice against controversial law.Hitting hard against the PPP, Jeay Sindh Tehreek chief said that whenever the PPP came into power, it sold the rights and interests of the Sindh province and created hatred among the people. Now, the PPP government through passing controversial law and starting crackdowns against the nationalist parties hatched a conspiracy to wage a civil war in the province, he alleged, adding that the several number of nationalist workers have been arrested all over the province by the police on the orders of the PPP leaders. He appealed to the people of Sindh to observe black day today 15 against the local government law and ruling PPP’s when ruling PPP is organising a public gathering in support of local government law in Hyderabad. Nationalist leader alleged that the PPP government has directed all the government employees and reserve police to participate in its today’s pubic gathering in Hyderabad as people of Sindh have already vetoed against the ruling party. Party’s provincial secretary general Habib Jatoi and others also spoke in the rally and said that the PPP was trying to divide and create rifts among the Sindhi speaking people by organising a public gathering in support of its allegedly anti-Sindh law. They further announced that Jeay Sindh Tehreek is going start a long march, which will start from Jacobabad on November 14 and will reach Karachi. Meanwhile, the traffic jam was witnessed on Shahrah-e-Faisal due to rally of Jeay Sindh Tehreek as thousands of public and private vehicles stuck in queue for many hours.
