Second flood swept not to cause devastation in Sindh: Qaim Ali Shah

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the second swept of floodwater would not be devastating for the cities of Sindh adding that the provincial government has been seeking every possible measure to rescue the cities from flood wreckages. During his visit of flood-hit areas in Shikar Purm he said that flood has caused unprecedented damages in the province adding that 1.5 million people have estimated to be affected in floods across the province. He also informed the media that 18,000/ affectees from flood hit areas has been shifted to relief camps in Karachi, 6,000 in Hyderabad, 90,000 in Sukkur and over 45,000 flood victims to Khairpur relief camps. Chief minister Sindh further stated that experts have indicated 900,000 cusec water flowing in Sukkur, but over 11,00,000 cusec water swept passed from Sukkur barrage. Sukkur barrage was saved by opening its canals, minister said. He also reiterated that the Sindh government has been committed to ensure compensation of damages in Sindh and all efforts would be sought out for relief of flood affectees.The Chief Minister was also accompanied by minister for local bodies Agha Siraj, Aftab Shoaban Mirani and Imtiaz Shaikh.
