KARACHI - Reviewing the reports presented by various agencies regarding the security threats to the jails of Sindh, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah expressd dissatisfaction over the security measures for the jails and said steps taken so are not sufficient. He said more effective measures with prompt action plan should be taken to ensure foolproof security for jails. He further directed that inflow of mobile sets in jails be detected, and vigilance and checking on violation of jails manual be ensured. Shah stated this while chairing a high-level meeting to review the security of Central Prison Karachi and other Jails of Sindh at the Chief Minister House on Wednesday.The meeting discussed and reviewed in detail security measures for various jails in Sindh particularly the Central Prison Karachi.The chief minister directed all the relevant departments and agencies to have concrete and effective plan for complete security of all prisons. He directed that all preventive, precautionary and proactive measures be evolved on urgent basis while all efforts should be properly monitored. Shah said that vulnerable points be properly addressed and there should be frequent checking inside the jails. He assured that all needs would be met and jammers, scanners, surveillance cameras etc will be provided.Earlier, the Home Secretary, IG Prisons, IG Police, AIG Police Karachi, Special Secretary Prisons and others presented their reports with regard to security measures pertaining to Central Jail and other prisons. It was informed that some high-profile prisoners have been shifted to various other jails of province while the remaining such prisoners will be shifted from Karachi to jails of interior Sindh before Eid-ul-Fitr. They also demanded provision of jammers, search lights, repair and strengthening of watch towers.The meeting was attended among others by Sindh Minister for Prisons Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Siddique Memon, IG Police Fayaz Leghari, Home Secretary Rizwan Memon, IG Prisons Sindh Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Special Secretary Prisons Ali Hasan Brohi, DIG Headquarters Prisons and AIG Police Karachi Iqbal Mehmood.
