Prolonged power outage in Karachi irks citizens, affects industrial activities

Loadshedding crisis has again surged across the city irking the citizens besides halting commercial and industrial activities. According to details, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has once again revived load shedding in the residential and commercial areas on the pretext of oil and gas shortage. It is pertinent to mention that citizens across the metropolis have to face six to ten hours on daily basis. The citizens complained that power outages span surged to ten hours in different areas including Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg and Nazimabad. Meantime, the power supply to PMTs was disconnected in some areas of Korangi, Landhi, Lyari, Lines Area, Orangi Town, Metrovile and Qasba Colony over non-payment of electricity bills or power thefts. Prolonged and unscheduled load shedding besides increasing the difficulties of the citizens has also badly affected the commercial and industrial activities. The citizens have demanded the KESC and federal and provincial governments to take notice of the situation. They were of the view that Karachi being industrial hub and base of countrys economy accommodates people from all over the country and deserve special consideration. They said power outages in Karachi mean depriving millions of their livelihood.
