At least 62 suspects including three alleged extortionists were apprehended during raid in Korangi and Hijrat Colony areas of city on Sunday. Police and commandos of specials protection group after receiving information about the presence of miscreants in Hijrat Colony cordoned off the entire locality and launched house to house search operation during which around 40 suspects were taken into custody. "Some suspects were apprehended during raid on private hotels and offices of religious parties in the said area," police said. Meanwhile, police conducted search operation in Mehran Town, Korangi, Sultanabad and some other suspected spots of the city during which three alleged extortionists and other suspects were apprehended. The detainees were shifted for investigation while police said that those found innocent would be released soon after initial investigation. Locals complained against the operation, saying that policemen normally nab innocent citizens under the pretext of operation against the miscreants and then demand bribes for release of the detainees from their relatives.
