KARACHI- An anti-polio drive failed to kick off in five union councils of the district West due to lack of security measures for polio teams. Anti-polio campaign was due to start today, in five high-risk zones of Karachi including Gadap, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Peerabad and Mominabad.

However, vaccinators could not make it to these areas due to absence of security. Polio vaccinators said that they were waiting for the district administration to provide adequate security so that the polio drive could begin. District West is one of the major high-risk zones of Karachi, where polio cases frequently surface, as children in these areas miss polio vaccinations due to militancy threats.
