Indian Gutka worth Rs10 million seized

KARACHI - The Anti-Smuggling Organisation, Model Custom Collect orate Preventive has seized a huge quantity of “Indian Gutkha” of various brands, smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan, on Saturday.
The custom officials was getting information through reliable sources that a truck (IDT-5686) would be used for transporting the smuggled Gutka.
Pursuant to the information custom high ups made a special team headed by Assistant Collector, Anti Smuggling organization, Muhammad Aftab.
The Customs team mounted surveillance all over the identified areas stretching from Mowach Goth at Orangi Town.
On Saturday the truck loaded with smuggled Gutka was noticed moving towards sector 10 Area of Orangi Town which was intercepted at Faqir Colony. Huge quantity of Indian Gutka worth about Rs10.04million was recovered. Total value of the goods and conveyance comes to Rs.11.4 million.
Further investigation is under way The marks, labels and stickers appearing on the bundles show that the goods were consigned from Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi to Kabul through air cargo and then were smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan via unauthorized routes.
Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami on Saturdy took out a rally for early release of missing persons, who are allegedly in custody of law enforcement agencies. While addressing the protest rally, JI Karachi Ameer Hussain Mehanti announced to setup a protest camp outside the Karachi Press Club against the missing person issue from Sunday (today).
