KARACHI : An alleged militant of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was killed in an encounter with the police on Friday at Mianwali Colony, Manghopir.
The area, where the encounter took place, is known as the stronghold of the TTP. Police claimed to have conducted a targeted operation in the area when militants were trying to escape during exchange of fire. The militants managed to escape to Mianwali Colony to hide when police raided the area of Kati Pahari area on a tip off. Followed by their escape, the law enforcers chased them and conducted search operation in Mianwali Colony.
Police claimed that as the search operation started in Mianwali Colony, militants opened fire on them. In an exchange of fire, one of the militant was killed while his three accomplices were managed to escape from the scene. The alleged militant was later identified as Muhammad Hussain, 26.
Police claimed to have recovered a pistol and a motorcycle from his possession. Police also claimed that one of the three militants who managed to escape under the cover of firing was also wounded but his companions took him away, said Pirabad SHO Fasihuz Zaman. Inspector Fasih quoting the unconfirmed reports about the injured, identified the militant as Abid Muchar who later succumbed to his injuries. The victim was the resident of Kunwari Colony. He was the in-charge of TTP’s Kunwari Colony area. The group of TTP has been involved in various cases of terrorism, targeted killings and extortion in the City. No case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
