Oil trader recovered, 3 abductors killed

KARACHI - In a joint venture by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell and Citizens Police Liaison Committee, an aged trader of oil was recovered from the captivity of the kidnappers on Tuesday while three kidnapers were also killed in the cross firing. According to the details, the encounter took place at Javed Bahria Housing Society in Maripur area on the early morning hours when AVCC police along with CPLC officials after the hectic efforts of 64 days managed to reach the kidnappers’ hideout. But fortunately or unfortunately, the police have to face massive resistance from inside as the kidnappers opened indiscriminate firing at the police upon their arrival. As a result, two policemen, namely Jamshed and Maroof were wounded, who were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medical treatment. The police also fired at the kidnappers and after the exchanged of cross firing, the police cleared the house with the killing of the all three kidnappers who are yet to be identified and recovered the kidnappee from the house.  An eighty-year-old Malik Zainul Abideen who is a prominent oil trader and father of Malik Imran, the former member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, was hostage at one of the rooms of the one thousand square yards rented house. He was kidnapped on August 13 near his home in Clifton area and kidnappers had demanded Rs200 million for his release while the negotiation between the family and the kidnappers were finalised on Rs.17m and the police managed to trace the location of the kidnappers after they called the family along with the ransom money at the any place by making phone call from their hideout. Earlier, they used to make the calls to the family from Waziristan, Peshawar and its surrounding areas. According to AVCC chief Niaz Khosa said that it is clear that the kidnappers belonged to any militant group but it has yet to ascertained either they belong to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or any other militant group.
