KARACHI - Two police constables were shot dead in an armed attack at the police post in Lyari on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at Moosa Lane area of Lyari that is within the limits of Baghdadi police station. Two policemen of the Police Helpline 15 were deputed at the post when unidentified armed men attacked them.
“We could not say how many assailants attacked the post because of loadshedding,” said Murtaza Mirani, the DSP of the area. Deceased policemen were identified as 40-year-old Muhammad Saeed and Niaz Hussain, 40. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy.
The police said that gangsters of the Lyari were behind the incident but it is yet to be ascertained which group attacked. Following the incident, extra contingent of police and Rangers reached the scene and cordoned off the area to conduct a search operation.
