KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has ordered to create a separate unit or wing to provide fool proof security to judiciary according to their advice, guidance and requirement.
He took this decision while presiding over a meeting regarding security of judiciary here at the CM House yesterday.
The meeting was attended by Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro, advisor too CM on law Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, IG Police Ad Khwaja, Principal Secretary to CM Alamuddin Bullo and secretaries of law and home departments.
IG Police AD Khwaja briefed the chief minister on the progress of Awais Shah kidnapping case right from his access to digital data like phone calls, SMS, whatapp and such other activities. “We have mobilised all the resources available with the police and the intelligence agencies to work out this case,” he said added that the police, rangers and intelligence agencies have developed an exemplary coordination in this case and we would recover him safe and sound.
The chief minister said that the kidnapping of Awais Shah was aimed at demoralising our judiciary. “Our judiciary is strong enough to absorb such shocks but it doesn’t mean that we sit keeping hand on hand,” he said. “We have to work day and night to recover him safe and sound and plan to provide literally fool-proof security to judiciary.”
Briefing the chief minister the IGP said that 2670 police force was provided to judiciary for the security, of them 1200 policemen are on the security of supreme court and high court judges. Apart from it Rangers personnel are also with them.
The chief minister directed the chief secretary and IGP to create a separate unit or wing for the security of judiciary right from lower to top judiciary. “But this mechanism would be stronger if the security off judges is made in accordance with their guidance, directives and consultation”.
He directed the IGP to hold a meeting with chief justices or their registrars, they feel fit, and seek guidance on their security. “In the light of their guidance frame a detailed mechanism and then share with them and then implement the plan,” he said.
The chief minister also reviewed Amajd Sabri murder case and issued necessary instructions and guidance. He also reviewed over all security of the city.
WATER THEFT: Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro briefing the chief minister on water theft said that he had busted a network at Murat Cinema. “I was quite surprised to see that they had taken a mega connection from the main line and had installed heavy motors to pump out water on electricity and generators,” he said added that they {water mafia} had water mixing system through which they were mixing sweet water stolen from mainlines of water board with saltish water and then selling the same to the industrialists. It is also more surprising that they are issuing computrised bills of stolen water to industrialists and getting payment through cheques.
Shoro said that he had busted a one gang and still 12 more gangs were operating in the city. ‘I have lodged an FIR against Taj Kohistani and his gang,” he said.
The chief minister directed the IGP to arrest the water thieves, including those nominated in the FIR. “This is serious crime and must be investigate from all the angels,” he said directed Jam Khan Shoro to give official water connections to the industrialists.
12 cops booked in kidnapping case
As many as 12 cops were booked in alleged kidnapping case while police claimed to have probe Pakistan Peoples Party’s local leader murder case after seven years.
A team of Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Sharifabad headed by SHO Javed Chaudhry arrested over their alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom case. The arrested cops were accused of kidnapping of a property dealer belonging to Jacobabad.
Abducted property dealer Abdul Haq claimed that he was abducted along with three of his business partners from Saddar area on July 12 and later they were shifted to an ACLC Sharifabad where the cops kept them detained for at least three days.
The cops threatened him to kill in a fake encounter or implicated in false cases if we are failed to pay the ransom amount, the victim trader explained. Haq further said that he had arrived in a city to buy some property and had stayed along with his partners at a guest house in Saddar area.
He informed the police high ups that we were sitting at a restaurant in Saddar for a dinner when nearly 15 ACLC personnel four of them were uniformed in ACLC mobile and two private cars blinded us folded and took cash and from a bag kept at a guesthouse, he explained.
Later, they frequently threatened us not to tell anyone about the incident before releasing us.
Following the incident, Sindh inspector general of police (IGP) Allah Dino Khawaja took the notice of the incident and ordered DIG Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) to inquire about the incident. During the inquiry, at least seven personnel of the ACLC including SHO Javed Chaudhry found guilty and were booked and detained over their involvement in the kidnapping for ransom case.
This is not for the first time when the Karachi police found involved in kidnapping for ransom as earlier several policemen have been arrested and grilled for their involvement in heinous cases of crime including kidnaping for ransom and extortion. Few months ago, Saddar police station SHO Muhammad Naeem among nearly half dozen policemen were booked and arrested over their involvement in kidnapping for ransom after they abducted four citizens and released them after getting ransom money.
Separately, Federal B Industrial Area police claim to have arrested a political worker for his involvement in a targeted killing of a rivalry political party’s worker in Orangi Town about seven years ago.
The accused Dr Rasheed son of Muhammad Siddique was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off near Shafiq Morr within the limits of Federal B Industrial Area police. Police officials said that the accused arrested is affiliated with a political party, who was wanted to the police in a targeted killing of a local leader of a rivalry political party. “Dr Rasheed is affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement and was a sector member of the party for Orangi Town,” claimed Federal B Industrial Area SHO inspector Naeem Khan. “The accused was wanted to the Pakistan Bazaar police station for dual murder cases including the murder of PPP local leader Salam alias Salamu.” PPP local leader Salam was shot and killed by armed motorcyclists in 2009 in Pakistan Bazaar area of Orangi Town. The cases against him were registered while further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, paramilitary force Rangers claim to have arrested at least seven suspects during ongoing targeted raids and operation in parts of city.
According to Rangers spokesperson, the arrests were made during targeted raids, operations and snap checking in parts of city including Sohrab Goth, Shah Faisal Colony and Korangi. Rangers spokesperson said that four Afghan nationals living illegally in a city were also among the detainees. Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from their possession.
