KARACHI - Though the PPP and MQM have yet to resolve their differences emerged on the bifurcation of Sindh health and education departments.
The two coalition partners claimed that the rift between them is minor as they will easily developed consensus through dialogue.
Even, a PPP minister went on to say that PPP and MQM are like husband and wife so the anger between them is natural which can overcome through talks.
The leaders of both the parties talked on the issue at an Iftar dinner hosted by Sindh Assembly Speaker at the assembly’s premises on Friday. The dinner was attended by the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, PPP leaders, provincial ministers, MPAs from PPP, MQM, PTI and other parties. However, the CM did not respond to the question about the differences between the PPP and the MQM.
Qaim said if the federal government started the Green Line Bus project to ease the transport problems of the Karachiites, the Sindh government would also initiate the yellow line project for the City.
To a question, he dispelled the reports of reshuffling in the Sindh Cabinet, saying there is no plan to bring change in the cabinet.
However, PPP leader and Sindh Minister for Jail, Manzoor Wassan while talking to the media men confirmed that reshuffling in the Sindh cabinet is on the cards as famous faces in the cabinet may be replaced with the new faces.
MQM leader Wasim Akhtar did not talk about the differences between the two parties, however, he said Wassan always see new dreams.
Meanwhile, Senior Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said there was no difference between the PPP and the MQM on the bifurcation of Health and Education Departments. The bifurcation of the said department is not taken yet. Bifurcation is being considered to improve the quality of services. “MQM may have its own opinion but there is no difference between both the parties.”
He referred that universities and the education boards are working under the control of Sindh chief minister while the technical education is being managed by the STEVTA.
JI HELD RULERS RESPONSIBLE
FOR TERRORISM, INFLATION
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said that terrorism, inflation and lawlessness are still prevailing in the country for the last 15 years.
Addressing an Iftar-dinner in honour of journalists at Idara-e-Noor Haq on Friday, he said few selected families were enjoying power for years and held the entire system hostage.
“Change can be brought into the life of feudal, landlord and political brahmins through elections while the downtrodden people get nothing from the elections,” he added.
He further stressed upon that VIP culture should be abolished from the country and the JI is struggling for eradication of this culture.
Commenting on Pervez Musharraf issue, JI Pakistan chief said the issue of Musharraf had become complicated for the present government, army and judiciary.
He further informed that the influential people and rulers are involved in corruption, adding 80 per cent parliamentarians are not paying tax.
Siraj appealed to the lawyers’ community, youth and people from different walks of life to come forward and stand with the JI on the said issue. He thanked the JI Karachi for arranging such a gathering with prominent journalists, columnists and analysts. JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, central information secretary Ameerul Azeem and others also spoke on the occasion.
