KARACHI – Sindh Inspector General of Police Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has directed for strict security arrangements under a contingency plan devised for maintaining better law and order situation during the holy month of Ramazan.
The contingency plan envisages security measures for 3,328 mosques, 257 Imam Bargahs, 1,007 seminaries, 306 open places for offering Taraveeh and 294 shopping centers located in East, West and South zones of the City.
According to report by the Additional IGP Karachi Iqbal Mahmood, there are 1,662 mosques, 117 Imam Bargahs, 704 seminaries, 86 open places for offering Taraveeh and 78 shopping centers in district West, 1,037 mosques, 90 Imam Bargahs, 199 seminaries, 166 open places for Taraveeh and 105 shopping centres in district East while in district South there are 622 mosques, 50 Imam Bargahs, 104 seminaries, 54 open places for Taraveeh and 111 shopping centres.
The police have planned setting up 280 pickets and patrolling through 366 mobiles and 195 motorcycles. Moreover, 700 national Volunteers would be deployed along with police personnel at police station level besides setting up control rooms and reporting centres.
The watch towers would also be setup at main shopping centers of the city and the parking areas would be kept at distance from important places. During the Ramazan, police would conduct flag march in sensitive areas of the City.
