Sindh to go hard against cheating in exams

KARACHI - Taking notice of rising cheating incidents during exams the Sindh Government has planned to take concrete measures against cheating ahead of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I & II (Class IX and X) scheduled on April 2, 2014 in the province.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has called a meeting at the Chief Minister House on March 22, 2014 (Saturday) to craft a unanimous policy for SSC examinations to be held from the next month. Chairmen of all examination boards and higher officials of Sindh Education Department, including Sindh Secretary Education Fazalullah Pecho, will be attending the meeting.
According to sources, the CM may form special vigilance teams to look after cheating issues. In Interior Sindh cheating in exams is very common; during the papers examination centres witness unchecked use of unfair means under surveillance of invigilators. 
On the other hand, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has issued the schedule of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I & II (Class X) Science Group and General Group Annual Examination 2014 for regular and private candidates.
BSEK Controller Examination Noman Ahsan told The Nation as many as 300,000 male and female candidates (both regular and private) will be appearing in the SSC Part-I and Part-II (Class IX and X) Science and General groups annual examinations-2014 scheduled to be commenced from April 02, 2014.
“BSEK this year will also use big buildings of the public colleges as examination centres to accommodate around 300,000 candidates in the Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSC) Examinations-2014, so that unfair means cases can be diminished in the city.”
 According to the date sheet, all papers of science faculty scheduled to be held during first shift from 9:00 AM TO 12:00 NOON. The first paper of Computer Studies (Theory) for class 9th scheduled on April 2, 2014, Biology (Theory), Biology (Theory) on April 7, Pakistan Studies on April 9, Sindhi Salees (C) and its alternates on April 11, Chemistry (Theory) on April 15, English (Compulsory) on April 19. However, first paper of 10th class, English (Compulsory) Paper – II, to be held on April 3, Islamiyat and its alternates on April 5, Urdu Normal Course  and its alternates on April 8, Mathematics on April 10 and Physics on April 17.
Conversely, all papers of the faculty of General Group will be held during the second shift from 02pm to 05 pm. The fist paper of English Compulsory-II will be held on April 2, 2014, Urdu Normal Course and its alternate papers on April 7, Islamiat (C) and its other alternates on April 9, Sindhi Salees (C) or its alternates on April 10, Urdu  Literature (Elective) and other optional on April 11, Islamic Studies/ Islamic History/ Economics/ Management for Better Homes (For Girls Only) on April 15, Braille (Theory) (2 Hours) and Arabic/ Persian/ Household Accounts (For Girls Only) on April 16, Civics (Elective)/ Physiology & Hygiene/ History Of Indo Pakistan/ Food & Nutrition ( For Girls Only ) (Theory)/ Computer Studies (Theory) (Elective) on April 17, Commercial Geography/ Geography (Elective)/ Clothing & Textile (For Girls Only) and Art & Model Drawing (Theory) (2 Hours) on April 19, Child Development & Family Living (For Girls Only) Geometrical & Technical Drawing (4 Hours) on April 22.   
Conversely, the first paper of General Science of SSC Part-I (Class-IX) General Group Annual Examination 2014 will be held on April 3, 2014, while English (Compulsory) Paper-I to be held on April 5, Mathematics on April 8, Sindhi Salees/ Sindhi Normal Course/ Urdu Alternative In Lieu Of Sindhi/ English Literature/ In Lieu Of Sindhi/ Geography Of Pakistan Paper – I (For Foreigners Only) on April 10, Pakistan Studies on April 12.
Roof collapses: Roof of a private school collapsed claimed a minor girl live wounded others at Ali Akber Shah Goth within the remits of Ibrahim Hydri police station. Police said that students were studding in class rooms when roof of the school was collapsed which resulting a five years of girl Misbah Yousaf resident of the same locality sustained injures and died on the spot while rest other children sustained minor injures went home after first aid. Police said that the construction of Mosque was under progress adjacent to the wall of school building which resulting incident occurred. Police handed over the body to family after autopsy. In another similar incident took place in Orangi Town three students of a school were wounded when roof had collapsed. Police said that school located in Ali Muhammad Goth where incident occurred but children were remains not hurt seriously.
On the other side, woman died in mysterious circumstance here in the remits of Brigade police station.
Police said that Naila Farheen 40, wife of Tanvir was found dead at her home located Jatt Line. Police being informed and shifted the body to hospital for autopsy. During the course of investigation police said that deceased mother of two used to take sleeping pills but this time she have had overdose which resulting she died while sleeping.
