KARACHI - A minor girl was killed while two wounded in a hand cracker attack in Lyari neighborhood on Wednesday.
Police officials say that the incident took place when the victim identified as four-year-old Zainab, daughter of Raj Muhammad was playing outside her home when unidentified persons riding a motorcycle threw a cracker bomb at the main door of the Hiranand compound located at Chakiwara Road within the limits of Napier police station.
The compound where the attack took place is dominated by Hindu community. The armed assailants managed to flee after throwing the cracker.
However, the girl had sustained a pellet in her neck while two other passersby were also slightly wounded. She was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
SHO Azam Khan said that the police suspected the incident occurred apparently over refusal to pay extortion money, adding that there is an under construction building next to the compound and it seemed that the Lyari gangsters were behind the incident while further investigation was underway.
The case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
