KARACHI- Organizing the anti-polio campaign became a challenge for the provincial government when the teachers of Karachi today refused to take part in the anti-polio drive due to security threats.

According to media reports, refusal of teachers to participate in the anti-polio campaign has forced the government to postpone the scheduled program in various union councils across the city.

Teachers said that they had not received any notice from the ministry of education to take part in the anti-polio drive, adding that there was a security risk in serving polio drops in the door-to-door campaign.

We were being pressurized to take part in the anti-polio drive but we can’t risk our lives for the sake of few pennies, teachers added.
