KARACHI: The Sharfiabad police today registered the murder case of renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri against unidentified persons.

The case was registered on the complaint of Azmat Sabri, the brother of slain Sabri.

Anti-terrorism provisions have been included in the case. CCTV footage was released on Thursday in which two suspects could be seen riding a motorcycle chasing Sabri’s car while another suspect riding a motorcycle was seen at the backup of the attackers.  Police said the footage will help in tracing the assailants. Sabri was shot dead on Wednesday as he drove his car to a TV studio where he was scheduled to perform for a Ramazan show.

He was laid to rest in Paposhnagar graveyard in Nazimabad on Thursday where thousands attended the funeral prayer.
