KARACHI (APP) - DCO Karachi who is also Controller General Prices, Javed Hanif, carried out surprise raids in various parts of the city, caught a number of profiteers and sent them to jail and many were heavily fined. He visited Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg and North Nazimabad Towns and checked prices. At various places he got the essential items sold to people at CDGK fixed prices. On the occasion the people appreciated the efforts of CDGK in enforcing fixed prices. The DCO assured that people would get all consumer items at fixed prices.He directed the officials to ensure that shopkeepers and thallawllas displayed price lists at conspicuous places and take action against the defaulters. He also checked weights and measures of two shops and arrested the shopkeepers. EDO Enterprise Shahab Imam and Additional EDO (Revenue), Matanat Ali Khan also accompanied the DCO. Atta supply at Rs10 per KG a revolutionary step Advisor to Chief Minister for Political Affairs, Rashid Rabbani has described the supply of atta to people of Sindh at Rs 10 per Kg a revolutionary initiative of the democratic government and said its only objective is to provide them relief. Talking to various delegations at his office here Monday, the Advisor said that on the Chief Ministers directive, 316 stalls have been setup throughout Sindh for supply of subsidised atta. He said the government is spending Rs 2 billion on the supply of subsidies atta for which the flour mills are initially being supplied one lakh tons of wheat. He informed that in Karachi 142 stalls set up in 18 Towns, Hyderabad 28, four each in Dadu, Thatta, badin, Tando Allahyar, Tando Wali Muhammed Khan and Jamshoro, 12 each in Larkana, Sanghar, Qambar/Shahdadkot, 16 in Shaheed Benazirabad and 10 each in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Thar. Rashid Rabbani said that complaints regarding non-availability of atta at these stalls or other complaints can be conveted at CM House Complaint Cell telephone numbers 0800-91915 and 9208081. He said the Chief Minister deserves appreciation who ordered the setting up of these stalls keeping the problems of people in view. He said at some places, problems were encountered because of indiscipline and haste by people which would be overcome gradually.
