Man held for killing UTP sent on remand

KARACHI - The Judicial Magistrate South on Thursday sent the accused, who killed an under trial prisoner (UTP) and injured two others on the City Courts premises the day before yesterday, on remand in the Police custody for three days. Khaista Khan was produced before Judicial Magistrate (South) Mohammad Shujat for obtaining his physical remand for further interrogation regarding the incident. At which the court sent the suspect on remand in the police custody with the direction to produce him on the next hearing. The accused has been booked under Sections 302, 186, 13D and others for murder, encounter with police, attempt to murder and others. The suspect is said to be the main accused of the shootout on the premises of City Court where three prisoners including Malik Sohail, Hamad Gul and Shahid were brought to courts for a trial in a murder case. When they were going back from a courtroom after a hearing along with the police guards the armed men opened indiscriminate firing at them. Resultantly, two UTP Malik Sohail and Hamad Gul and Cop Salman Khattak sustained bullet wounds. However, Malik Sohail, 40 succumbed to his wounds later. SHC orders advertisement of court's notice The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday again directed to advertise the courts notice serve on former President Gen (r) Pervez Musharaf, while submit its report on 20 January. The court directed the petitioner, Molvi Iqbar Hyder to advertise the courts notice on the last hearing. The division bench of SHC had directed to advertise the notice in London based newspapers as well as national papers. The petitioner in his petition alleged that the former President was involved to violate the constitution of Pakistan twice and ousted an elected government. He alleged that both the legal experts - Abdul Hafeez Pirzada and Malik Qayyum aided and abetted the former dictator in his illegal attempts to prolong his dictatorial rule. He also termed the formation of Islamabad High Court as illegal. He made respondents to the petition to former President Pervez Musharraf, former Minister Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, former Attorney General of Pakistan Malik Qayyum, Federal Government, Provincial Governments and others.
