MQM denies Gabol quitting

PPP criticises him over changing loyalties

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement had denied reports that the party leader and member national assembly Nabil Gabol had left the party and said that he was still a member of the party.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, MQM spokesman said that Nabeel Gabol had resigned from his post due to his personal engagements; however, he denied that he had left the party.
The spokesman said that Gabol had informed the party leadership that he had resigned from assembly membership, however refuted the claims of quitting the party.  The MQM spokesman said that Gabol was not able to address grievances of the people of his constituency due to his busy schedule, therefore the party asked him to resign from his assembly membership.  Moreover, Pakistan People’s Party Sindh General Secretary Najmi Alam on Monday said that PPP would not welcome Nabeel Gabol-who had resigned from his national assembly membership and likely MQM membership.
Talking to The Nation, Alam termed Nabil Gabol as an opportunist and said that he left PPP, when he realised that he would not be able to get the provincial assembly seat.”Similarly, when MQM is in trouble, Gabol had decided to shift his loyalties to other parties, once again betraying his political party,” he said.
Alam said that neither Nabil Gabol had approached PPP leadership nor they would accommodate him. “Our doors are closed for those who left the party at time when needed the most,” he said.  Responding to reports of Gabol joining Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Najmi Alam said that they had nothing to do with him whether he joins PTI or any other party because he had no public support.
