KARACHI - Five people were killed while three others including a DSP wounded in various violent incidents in Karachi on Thursday.
Gunmen shot dead a man here in Supermarket police precincts.
Police said gunmen riding a motorbike came at a Biryani Shop situated at Jhanda Chowk, Liaquatabad No-2 and sprayed bullets. Ali Raza, 21, the owner of the shop, died on the spot while the assailants managed to flee from the scene. When they were trying to escape they saw a police mobile coming close to the crime scene, they opened fire which wounded Mohsin Ali, 5.  In the same area of Liaquatabad, some gunmen shot dead Tariq Khan, 26, in FC area and wounded two passersby Daniyal and Rashid. Police suspected that both the incidents were sectarian and investigation is underway.
In another incident of firing in Quaidabad police precincts, some gunmen sprayed bullets on the car of DSP Chaudhry Tariq Saeed and fled. The DSP gunmen also retaliated. Police said DSP Tariq, posted in Al-Falah area, was going home when the incident took place. The victim was shifted to a private hospital where doctors pronounced his condition out of danger. 
On the other side, three persons were killed and another wounded in Ittehad Town police precincts. Police said unknown motorcyclists opened fire at a shop in which four people were seriously injured. Gunmen managed to flee while the victims were shifted to Civil Hospital where Shahid Afridi, Ramzan Afridi and Abdul Khalil Afridi succumbed to injuries while another victim Jahangir admitted with critical wounds. Police said Shahid Afridi was the owner of the shop and had enmity with the Mehsud Tribes.  The rival group members had also attacked Shahid Afridi a year ago in the area of Khabar Chowk, Baldia where he was saved but another man died in this attack.
