Rangers man among 7 killed in Karachi violence


KARACHI -

At least six persons including political activists were killed in various violent incidents in Karachi while a Rangers officer wounded in an exchange of firing also succumbed to his injuries during treatment here on Thursday.
An activist of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was gunned down in an incident of targeted killing here in the remits of Gulistan-e-Johar police station.
Police said Awan resident of Kishwar Square, was on his way home on a motorbike with his friend when gunmen targeted him and managed to flee. Following the incident Awan sustained bullet injuries while his friend narrowly escaped the attack.  Police rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
A worker of PML-N was shot dead in the remits of Model Colony police station. Police said that Raja Anees was sitting outside his residence where gunmen riding a motorbike reached the spot and sprayed bullets.
The victim died on the way to hospital while police handed over the body to family after autopsy and registered the case.
A man shot dead in the remits of Site A Police station.  Police said that deceased Yousaf Khan reached Karachi from Buner, KPK in the morning and was on his way home when gunmen intercepted and killed him. Police suspect personal enmity was the motive behind the murder.
A man killed his younger brother at Muslimabad Colony within the remits of Quidabad police station. Police said that Ahmed Ghani and his younger brother Noor Ghani clashed over some property issue when Ahmed took out his pistol and shot dead Noor.  Culprit managed to flee while police arrested the assailant and recovered the weapon. 
Zaman Town police found a body near form Tasveer Cinema, Korangi. Police said that residents informed about the body lying in the bushes when police reached and took the body to morgue after autopsy at hospital where deceased was identified as Rafiq aka Kallo.
Another body was found from North Nazimabad area within the remits Tymoria police station. Police shifted the body where family of deceased identified the deceased as Jabbar Jahangir owner of a private institute. Police have so far been unable to ascertain the motive behind both the murders.
Meanwhile, DSR Ranger Hanif Tanoli who was wounded in a exchange of firing between the Lyari gangsters and Rangers on Tuesday succumbed to his injuries here on Thursday.
The Rangers encounter took place at Afshani Gali, Lyari where gangsters resorted to firing on the arrival of Rangers as three of the gangsters were killed while DSR Tanoli was wounded.
He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The funeral prayers of deceased officer was offered at Rangers headquarters Bhittai and his body was transported to his hometown Lahore.
On the other side,families of gangsters staged protest at Maripur Road and blocked the roads for several hours for traffic.
