Tip off: Heavy weapons, Rangers' fake uniforms recovered in Karachi

KARACHI: A huge cache of weapons and Rangers’ uniforms was recovered by the paramilitary Rangers, during raid at a house in Azizabad area today morning.

According to Rangers sources, the law enforcement personnel were tipped off by a suspect Kashif alias David who was detained for allegedly operating a network of target killers from abroad.

A heavy contingent of Rangers personnel raided the house near Nine Zero and recovered a large number of weapons, awan bombs and Rangers’ uniforms.

Karachi, a city of 20 million, has long been a hotbed of crime and clashes, much of it linked to ethnic, sectarian and political divisions. Situation has gradually improved in the southern port city, after Rangers as well as the police launched an anti-militant and crime operation in 2013.

Two accused arrested during police operation

Meanwhile, crackdown against criminals continued in Karachi as police arrested two more accused during operations in different parts of the city.

According to details, police conducted an operation in Malir City area and arrested a drug peddler Rasool Bakhsh while his wife managed to escape from the scene. Police also recovered drugs from his possession.

Police also conducted a raid at the Emergency Ward of Jinnah Hospital in Mahmoodabad area and arrested an accused in injured condition. Accused Gulzar was wounded in firing between two rival groups in Akhtar Colony. One person was killed and two were injured as a result of firing between two groups.
