KARACHI - The Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML), Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, on Wednesday said Pakistan is being isolated from the rest of the world under a conspiracy and through a Master Plan linked with Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. He said that the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) has expressed grieve concerns over the critical law and order situation in Pakistan adding the World Bank in its reports has also considered Pakistan as an economic bomb and warned the world about the deteriorating condition of the country. He expressed these views while addressing a joint-press conference here at MQM headquarters Nine-Zero along with MQM Rabita Committee deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar. Earlier Sheikh Rasheed was welcomed by Dr Farooq Sattar, Provincial Minister Adil Siddiqui, Sheikh Liaquat Hussain and other members of Rabita Committee at the MQM headquarters and held with him a meeting that lasted for an hour. Referring to the government policy on Afghanistan, Sheikh Rasheed asked the rulers to adopt a clear stance regarding the Taliban or the coalition forces warning the present policy could provide them to target Pakistan in order to fulfil their evil designs. He predicted that present government would remain in office till October or November only because the country is passing through a very critical crisis followed by economic instability. He said despite the elapse of 100 days, present government has not been able to solve a single problem of the masses. Commenting on the worst economic situation, Sheikh Rasheed underlined the need of collective efforts from all political parties to bring out the country from the worst crises. Referring to the issue of judges, he said through constitutional package judges issue could not be resolved adding that the coalition partners PPP and PML-N are not serious to resolve this issue and they are using it only to gain popular support. When asked about deposed Chief Justice Chauhdhry Iftikhar Chauhdhry, AML chief said "It is my desire that he (Chauhdhry) should be reinstated, once for all but one should keep in mind that he is also a PCO judge". Appreciating the MQM-PPP coalition in Sindh, Sheikh Rasheed said it was a wise decision and it would be very beneficial for the province as well as the entire country. He lauded the efforts of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and said that on the directives of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, he is making all out efforts in resolving people's problems at every level. Rasheed said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was the first person who congratulated him over the formation of the AML and he also believes that middle class people should be sent to the Parliament. To a query, he said the present coalition does not have majority in the National Assembly required to impeach President Musharraf because as 294 members are needed for this purpose. On the occasion, MQM Rabita Committee deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar welcomed Sheikh Rasheed saying that MQM has very old relations with him. He said that due to unstable economic and political situation, the country was suffering from multiple crises. Dr Sattar further said that due to wrong priorities of the government, country could further drift towards instability and warned that if the rulers would not take immediate notice of the shortage of water and power, poverty, unemployment and price-hike, Pakistan would be forced to face a chaos of unprecedented proportions.
