JI to kick start door-to-door electoral drive

KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti said on Monday his party leadership will restore peace and past glory of the city of lights.
Addressing a convention of JI candidates for provincial and national assemblies seats in the upcoming polls at Idara-e-Noor Haq, the JI leader came down hard on the Election Commission of Pakistan, and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, saying they both were befooling the citizens.
He said the PPP government and its allies, the MQM and the ANP, had converted the city of lights into a horrendous slaughterhouse, and the coming elections would decide the fortune of the people.
Mahenti said the Supreme Court verdict on the modification of electoral rolls and redrawing of constituencies in the city was not implemented in its true spirit. He said the party was in contact with the various political and religious parities for striking seat-adjustment deals.
The JI leader also stated that his party would launch a ‘public contact campaign’, in which JI leaders and workers would convince the people to vote the honest and loyal leadership of the JI to eliminate the target killing, extortion, street crime and lawlessness from the country.
“The JI will provide justice according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, when it will come into power”, Mahenti added.
JI leaders Rashid Naseem, Naseem Siddiqui, Dr Wasay Shakir, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Nasrullah Shajih and others were also present on the occasion.
