PTI seeks FIR registration against Sindh government, K-Electric over the heatwave deaths

KARACHI - Central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Faisal Vawda on Saturday said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) cannot hide crimes it committed behind the excuse of ‘media trial’ against the party.
In a statement issued here, he said by not claiming compensation from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for airing an anti-MQM report, the party has accepted the truth presented in the documentary.
MQM officials have also confessed their crime by not indulging into the judicial battle against the charges on the party, said Vawda.
The PTI leader urged the interior ministry to lodge cases against the MQM and declare it a proscribed outfit. He also demanded the government and higher judiciary to take notice of the allegations against the party.
Moreover, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail on Saturday filed a petition to register a case against the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Sindh government and K-Electric over the deaths caused by deadly heatwave and loadshedding.
PTI leader Imran Ismail accompanied by Khurram Sher Zaman and Faisal Vawda reached the Civil Lines police station and submitted an application demanding registration of an First Information Report (FIR) against the Sindh government and K-Electric over the criminal negligence that resulted in the deaths of more than a thousand people during the heatwave in Karachi. Addressing the media men outside the police station, PTI leader Imran Ismail informed that he had submitted an application in presence of DSP and SHO that carries request to register a case. He said he had nominated Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, Karachi Administrator Saqib Soomro, PDMA Chairman Suleman Shah and Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar.
He further said PTI believes that precious lives were wasted due to negligence of the provincial government. The death toll could have been averted if the authorities concerned took precautionary measures. PPP and Sindh chief minister have to answer over the loss of lives in Karachi, he said. He asked PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to come to serve the people of the province. PTI will stage protest outside the Chief Minister House if FIR is not lodged within 72 hours over the application, warned Ismail.
Meanwhile, the police officials said a decision about registering the FIR will be taken after evaluating the complaint. Meanwhile, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday handed over an accused in the killing of MQM worker Waqas Shah on a 14-day physical remand. Asif Ali, the main accused in the murder case of Shah, was arrested during a raid on MQM Headquarters Nine-Zero was produced in ATC. The police requested the court for granting physical remand of the accused. The court accepted the police plea.
